82-year-old Harry Matthew Hymes II and 65-year-old Sarah Downes both died in a fatal accident.
The wreck happened at the intersection of US-33 and Childers Run Crossing between a 2007 Chevy driven by Hymes and a Freightliner truck driven by Benjamin Carl Ellis III.
The accident, according to authorities, took place around 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Police say that Hymes crossed into the eastbound lanes of the highway and was struck by the Freightliner on the passenger’s side. Both Hymes and Downes, who was a passenger in the vehicle, tragically died at the scene of the crash.
Ellis had been transporting charcoal in the Freightliner at the time. He also received injuries and was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
