Hedgesville, WV One Dead in Fatal Car Accident on Hedgesville Road

close up image of a police car's lightsHedgesville, WV (April 27, 2019) – Following a car accident that took place on Hedgesville Road, one person lost their life while two were airlifted to various medical centers for the treatment of their injuries. The accident involved multiple vehicles at the entrance of a school in Berkeley County yesterday, April 26th.

Deputies investigated the scene of the crash, where they found that 53-year-old Karen Wade, of Martinsburg, had been driving east on Hedgesville Road when she crossed over the double line and collided head-on with a pickup truck. The driver was identified as 39-year-old Juan Gomez-Reyes.

According to authorities, Wade was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Gomez-Reyes and Wade’s granddaughter were taken to the hospital by a medical helicopter.

Police are still searching for those who might have witnessed the accident and continue their investigation at this time.
