Wood County, WV Fatal Two-Car Accident Reported on Route 14

On Tuesday afternoon of this past week, a fatal two-car accident was reported on Route 14/Elizabeth Pike that took the life of one person.

83-year-old Margaret Dye, of Mineral Wells, died after she had been driving her 2006 Toyota Camry and a pickup truck went left-of-center, colliding with her vehicle.

The driver of the pickup truck that struck her vehicle was identified as 35-year-old Jerry Wayne Hartley. He was flown to the Charleston Area Medical Center. His passenger, 41-year-old Centha Diveley, was taken by ambulance to another hospital.

Authorities say that the accident happened around 1:45 p.m. near the Church Of Christ and the roadway was closed for approximately three hours.

At this time, police say that charges are pending. Their investigation into the matter continues at this time.
