Bluefield, WV – Worker Injured in Pedestrian Accident with Vehicle
Bluefield, WV (November 4, 2018) – A Virginia Department of Transportation worker was injured in a serious pedestrian accident when a vehicle struck them right off of Interstate 77. The accident happened in Bluefield on Tuesday, October 30.
The West Virginia State Police said that the accident took place around 7 a.m. near the East River Mountain tunnel, which stretches from the West Virginia to Virginia border. The driver had been traveling northbound on the highway when they ran off the road for reasons that are unknown, striking the worker.
The worker was seriously injured and airlifted to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. The worker and the driver were both reported as males but their names have not been released.
No charges are pending at this time.
